Beth was the mother of two children. Beth had been feeling quite fretful lately and started to "medicate" herself by drinking a few glasses of wine every evening after she put her children to bed. After approximately nine weeks of this drinking routine, she at last realized that rather than helping her calm down and "manage" her difficulties, drinking made her feel less restful when she awakened in the morning. This, in turn, made her feel increasingly more anxious throughout the .

After thinking about her circumstance for several days, Beth decided to talk about her drinking problem with her closest friend. In actual fact, approximately twenty minutes into their discussion, Beth's friend Joslyn, told her about a very supportive and skillful psychiatrist at the local alcohol and drug rehabilitation center. After talking to her best friend, Beth without much ado got encouraged to call the treatment center and schedule an appointment.

Ten days later she finally got to meet the doctor her best friend had talked about. After their short introduction, Beth told the doctor that ever since she and her husband divorced one another, she has been struggling financially, spiritually, and psychologically.

As Beth was talking to the doctor, she highlighted the point that she truthfully thought that her former husband and she waited long enough to know each other good enough before they got married. After the children started to arrive, however, everything appeared to go downhill. To make mattes even worse, both Robert and she began to drink, and their alcohol abuse negatively affected their finances, their love for one another, and their relationship.

The doctor explained to Beth that the alcohol poisoning symptoms she has been going through are due to her abusive and unhealthy drinking. The psychiatrist also told Beth that her alcohol withdrawal symptoms are some of the more common symptoms of alcoholism and that the best solution for this state of affairs is alcohol rehab.

After spending five months in inpatient alcohol rehab, Beth was slowly but surely able to understand that the real source of her anxiety and her depression was that she had not worked through her acrimonious feelings she has for her ex-husband who had divorced her. In short, Beth let these feelings perturb her so much that she became a person addicted to alcohol.

With these insights and with the medications her physician prescribed, she eventually stopped drinking, she began to feel significantly less depressed, and she started scheduling more time for social events with her family and friends. Not only this but a few months after receiving rehab from her doctor, began to date once again.

It was evident that Beth had certainly come a long way. In point of fact, just about five months after she terminated her treatment, Beth had finally laid the negative feelings of Robert, her ex-husband, to rest and was beginning to feel more self worth and more spiritually"alive" and emotionally "together" than she had ever felt in her life.
